Professor Paul Johnstone – North of England Region Director
Professor Paul Johnstone is the Regional Director (North) and an executive director for Public Health England. Previously he was Director of Public Health for the NHS in the North of England and Regional Director of Public Health for Yorkshire & the Humber (setting up its first regional team in 2002) and Director of Public Health and Medical Director for Tees and Durham. In addition to his North of England role he advisers the UK Government on health inequalities, devolution policy and community asset approaches and is a member of the Well North Board. Recently he advised the WHO in Sierra Leone and led PHE’s project to support reconstruction after Ebola (2015-17). He lives in North Yorkshire with his family.
