About Us

The Northern Universities’ Public Health Alliance (NUPHA) is a voluntary organisation which aims to work together as a Northern academic public health community. NUPHA provides a forum that enables discussion of the various opportunities in research that can be forged from working together to tackle the many and diverse public health challenges collectively faced across the North of England.

The alliance brings together leading experts from Northern universities, Public Health England, The Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA) and the N8 Research Partnership.

The aim of the alliance is to be inclusive and bring together anybody with an interest in public health across the North. The alliance aims to look at better ways to work together as a Northern academic public health community. NUPHA will look to find ways to ensure that the intellectual assets across the North are best-aligned in order to develop a better, shared understanding of the depth of the public health challenges we face together as a community. NUPHA aims to bring together all of those with a shared interest in helping reduce the vast inequalities seen within the North itself and between the North and the rest of England.

It is hoped that our collective voice will provide an opportunity to influence funders and to highlight that there is a group of people across the North who understand the problems and what is needed, and who, collectively, can make a difference.
