Professor Karen Bloor – Professor of Health Economics and Policy and team lead for the Health Services & Policy Group

Karen Bloor is Professor of Health Economics and Policy, and the University’s Research Champion for Health and Wellbeing. She has worked at the University of York for over 25 years, focusing particularly on the application of economics to health policy. As research champion, her role is to lead and catalyse interdisciplinary research collaborations across the University of York in the broad area of health and wellbeing.

Dr David Diston – Research Development Manager, Environment

As research development manager, David supports strategic research developments, and co-ordinates inter- and multi-disciplinary research initiatives across academic disciplines in the broad area of environmental sustainability and resilience. One of his focus areas is the interaction between population health and the total environment.

Professor Kate Pickett – Professor of Epidemiology and team lead for the Public Health & Society Group

Kate is currently Professor of Epidemiology in the Department of Health Sciences, and the University’s Research Champion for Justice and Equality. Kate was an UK NIHR Career Scientist from 2007-12, is a Fellow of the RSA and a Fellow of the UK Faculty of Public Health. She is co-author, with Richard Wilkinson, of the best-selling The Spirit Level (2009) and The Inner Level (2018). She is a co-founder and trustee of The Equality Trust.

Dr Louisa Shilton – Research Development Manager, Applied Health and Social Care

As research development manager, Louisa supports strategic research developments, and co-ordinates inter- and multi-disciplinary research initiatives across academic disciplines in the broad area of applied health.
